Office Experience: AutoCAD® drafting of all types of Surveys and Condominium Plans from field notes, measurements, and electronic data collection files. We currently use AutoCAD® Civil 3D 2019. Specific experience with Civil 3D and Trimble office and field software is ideal. Drafting skills and experience preparing Tentative Parcel and Final Maps, Record of Surveys, Corner Records, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Condominium Plans, Topographic and Architectural Site Surveys, Elevation Certificates and Plats, etc. is highly desirable. Office experience may include data reduction and adjustment calculations.

Professional Land Surveyor (Santa Rosa, CA.)

Ray Carlson and Associates is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor who desires to work in the field and office, one who would possibly be interested in future business opportunities.

Key Expectations:

  • Professionalism with a responsible and ambitious work ethic, willing to lead.
  • Experience with Trimble survey equipment, including S6, TSC3 and TSC5 data-collectors, and R10s G.P.S., VRS or base.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Duties:

  • Office and field project management of crew members and field surveys.
  • Ability to prepare Record of Surveys, Boundary surveys, ALTA, Topographic Surveys, and Construction Staking, legal descriptions, and boundary resolution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying or related field.
  • California Professional Land Surveyor Registration.
  • Preferred five years of progressive experience management.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with insurable record, required.

Hours:

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Overtime will be required based on project needs.

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use computer with related tools for an average 8 hour work shift.

  • Must be prepared to bend, crouch, lift, and twist to carry out job duties.
  • Lift and carry instruments weighing up to 50 pounds over rough terrain.
  • Perform tasks such as clearing vegetation (including poison oak), digging holes, hiking, and/or pounding stakes with hand tools.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle, including four-wheel driving on steep ranch roads and drive an ATV.

Land Survey Technician (Santa Rosa, CA.)

Description:

The Survey Field Technician will have an opportunity to learn and improve their skills while working with experienced staff, using the latest technology in field and office equipment assisting with daily responsibilities in the preparation of boundary, topographic and construction surveys.

Duties:

  • Work as a member of a survey crew performing construction stakeout and associated preliminary topographic surveys, boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and surveys for public and private clients.
  • Set-up and operate Trimble survey equipment, including S6, TSC3 and TSC5 data-collectors, and R10s G.P.S., VRS or base.
  • Perform survey calculations.
  • Perform all aspects of stakeout and locations surveys using applicable survey equipment.
  • Maintain survey equipment used and keep survey truck stocked with necessary supplies and tools.
  • Make accuracy, calibration checks and adjustments on equipment used.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in Survey School or AutoCAD instructional program
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as drafter or field technician with a survey or engineering company.
  • Using analytical and observation skills, which demonstrate the ability to set a course or direction. Understanding of survey-related mathematics and an ability to use and understand emerging satellite/surveying technologies. Able to produce maps of all kinds as well as digital drawings.
  • Requires analytical knowledge using business math, and the ability to use a compass. Must have the ability to read a topographic map, set traverse points and monuments. Language requirements are reading, writing, spelling and the ability to communicate clearly on all business levels.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with insurable record, required.
